●Overview:
House of Autumn’s End has always been an enigmatic outlier among the Houses from its inception. One of the three founding Houses, it is a House of absurdity, of opposing dualities—of refined elegance and chaotic power. A House of delicate nature and hard cybernetics and mutations balanced in a sort of neo-feng shui. Though the House attracts many odd sorts of Eidolons, it is often regarded as one of the most powerful and dangerous of Houses, in part due to the unusually high number of Latent Psionic Eidolons and its rumored connections to the Conclave of Himalaya.
Origins of Aiko and the House of Autumn’s End:
Little is known about Aiko, and she has always been an enigma, an oddity, even within the Throne Breaker Three. What is known is that she came from the Conclave of Himalaya, in the early days of the Conclave when the elders were delving into the depths of their newly formed psionic abilities. The myth of Aiko holds that she was not born but conjured forth from the unified psychic energy of the elders. Whether a newly formed creation or some force far older, conjured into the Real, is heavily debated, but whatever the source, her powers, from conception, were said to be far more powerful than any other that was or is.
For unknown reasons, the elders sent her from the Conclave into the world. Some say she was banished, others are convinced that she is a Conclave weapon unleashed upon those who would seek to harm them. Regardless, she found herself, as a young adult in the streets of Budapest, and shortly thereafter, one of the dreaded Throne Breaker Three. There, she released and honed her terrifying psychic powers until the squad fractured to form the first Houses of Eidolons.
Shortly after Madonna Oriente founded the House of Weeping Gomorrah, Aiko founded her own House, the House of Autumn’s End. A House governed by her enigmatic mind and neo-feng-sui style. It became well-regarded for its elegant efficiency and the terrifying power of its Eidolons.
Decades later, four new leaders emerged to form the Coven of the Five Matrons. Each of these was the spitting image of Aiko, but terribly different in their personalities and gifts. Again, the rumors swirled that these were clones of the matron-supreme; others believed that just as Aiko had been conceived, so too had she conceived of herself four others to balance the rule of the House. There was Aiko, the Autumn’s End, the psionic witch and matron-supreme. Sakura, the Daughter of Spring, Artisan of technology and design. Hana, the Summer’s Shade, Master of spycraft and intrigue. Shizuka, the Graceful Fall, the Shrewd Diplomat, and force of calm. Tsubaki, the Voice Discordant, whose role it is to dissent when there is an accord of the other four.
The Coven of the Five is an unpredictable yet balanced House authority. The enigmatic and cryptic approach to both House affairs and the execution of contracts makes the House ever the wildcard. Their Eidolons are unpredictable yet ruthlessly powerful and gifted. A House not to be trifled with or taken lightly, and whose mystique breeds a sense of fear and reverence for the outside observer and the unfortunate mark.
